Jackson Lake Cabin
Since around 1967 or so, our family
has owned a lot and cabin on Lake
Jackson. Originally, it was just a
tin covered shed with screened walls,
a small kitchen, and an out house.
We dismantled the shed, expanded its
concrete floor, and built a small house
with a flat roof. Later, Marsha and
I got married and lived over there for
our first three years together.
We added a carport and two large
upstairs wings under the roof slope
of a new roof. Many family members
and friends of the family have used
this place and my dad and I have
probably taught over 350 folks
how to water ski, tube, or do other
water sports. I am currently
remodeling the cabin. I have
enclosed the garage, added a new
electrical service panel, and
I am installing fairly new/used
vinyl siding and used windows. My
plans include adding a wing where
the current balcony is located and
expanding the walls in the front
(lower and upper floors) and adding
a fireplace and new large windows
all across the front. I will
remodel the bathrooms too. This
will be a slow process but the end
result should be more usable and fun.
