Notes for George Washington Clarke: Soon after his marriage to Susan, George was called to the Confederate War where he served all through the war and told many stories of the hardships he endured. He was discharged in North Carolina and had to walk home begging for food. He left his rifle and army gear laying by the road to tired to carry them any further. His father owned some land in the Green Fork community so he grew most of his own food and feed as was the custom of the time and cotton for needed cash. George W had a small store and sold general merchandise. He would go to Augusta GA on the train to pick up supplies for the farm and store when needed. He had a farm shop where he built most of his plows and tools needed for the farm and to sell in the store. When it was yours, I put it in (on most I think) but the others are ancestry.com and information from my Dad etc. (Like Feddy Clarke) I still have a lot to get on the younger ones. I think I am going to be down the first week of June. I found a person to bring me up to date on my mother's side of the family but she wants to talk to me in person. I have really tried to get past Henry Clarke but have not found anything earlier. I also have information on the Burke's and Joyner's etc. If this sends ok this way or I do not know how to take off the files from Tree Maker.
